Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer / Data Architect to design, develop, and optimize data platforms. This role blends hands-on engineering with architectural leadership, ensuring that data is modeled, stored, and delivered in ways that drive analytics, business intelligence, and advanced data applications. The ideal candidate is experienced with data architecture, data modeling, SQL Server, and Python, with a strong focus on Azure data technologies such as Fabric, Databricks, and Synapse.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Architecture & Modeling
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable data architectures that align with business needs.
- Develop logical and physical data models for operational and analytical systems.
- Establish standards for data modeling, storage, and metadata management.
- Data Engineering & Development
- Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines to integrate data from multiple sources into centralized repositories.
- Write high-quality Python code for data transformations, orchestration, and automation.
- Optimize and maintain SQL Server databases, ensuring efficient query performance and scalability.
- Azure Data Ecosystem
- Leverage Azure Fabric, Databricks, Synapse, Data Lake, and Data Factory for data processing and analytics.
- Collaborate with engineers to design secure, cost-effective, and high-performing data solutions.
- Implement data governance, security, and compliance practices using Azure-native tools.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in data engineering, data architecture, or related roles.
- Strong knowledge of data modeling (conceptual, logical, and physical).
- Proficiency in SQL (T-SQL) and database optimization on SQL Server.
- Solid programming skills in Python for data engineering tasks.
- Hands-on expertise with Azure data products such as Fabric, Databricks, Synapse, and Data Lake.
- Experience designing and managing ETL/ELT pipelines and batch/streaming data processes.
- Understanding of data governance, security, and compliance best practices.
- Partner with analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver robust solutions.
- Provide technical guidance on best practices for data engineering and architecture.
- Document processes, data flows, and architectural decisions.
